Dear Mrs Pillay,
I am sure you are no stranger to the name of Mansour Osanloo. Mansour is the general secretary of Vahed Bus Company of Tehran & the Suburbs. Since its start, the union’s power has grown rapidly which made the Islamic unions and state security forces in Iran extremely threatened. Since then, Mansour and his union have been systematically attached in an effort to crush their power. Since 2005, Mansour has been in and out of prison and is one of the most intensely tortured people in Iran.
Mansour has fought endlessly for those without a voice, the working class who only ask for a right to earn a living wage and to have a decent and a dignified life.. For them, Mansour represents freedom. And that is why the Iranian regime is using all its power to silence him.
In recent years Mansour and his family have endured some of the most inhumane tortures and pressures. He has been prevented from medical treatment for a variety of illnesses and has had his pregnant daughter kidnapped and tortured and forced to have an abortion. In the summer of 2010, Mansour was sentenced for another year without being allowed a lawyer. The crimes of the court and court personnel do not end here. Mansour has suffered a number of physical illnesses due to maltreatment in prison and in February this year, he suffered a heart attack after prison guards and thugs attacked him and his cellmates.
I fear that his life is in great danger and if nothing is done soon, another innocent life will be lost.
I kindly urge you to use your influence to ensure that Mansour Osanloo is released with immediate effect and that the barbaric regime of Iran is brought down.
They may have tried to silence Mansour. But they cannot silence the rest of the world.
I am the voice of Mansour Osanloo.
